The overall result

Collectively, 2077 public libraries and school-libraries handed in their statistical data 2010 to the Büchereiverband Österreichs, which are 19 more than the previous year. 13.122.805 media were available to registered users in the recorded public libraries and school-libraries. The media collections increased by 2.7 % in comparison to last year, the number of users increased by 2.9 %, nearly 14 % of Austrians are registered users in public libraries and school-libraries. There is no other extracurricular educational institution or organisation for reading promotion which has a similar high rate of members. 
10.441.084 people visited the analysed public libraries and school-libraries in the year 2010 and, at the same time, borrowed 21.535.028 media.
